Google places is an important aspect of local search marketing and we always recommend businesses to add their business listing. It is a straightforward enough process and should you require assistance, we have previously compiled some tips on how to Optimise your Google Places Page. Occasionally, there can be some problems and one in particular is ‘What to do if someone else has claimed your Google Places Listing?’. This can be troubling but fear not, as this can be corrected.
1) The first step in this situation is to ensure that no one else at your business has taken the initiative to claim the listing. Once you can verify that this is not the case and you do not already have an owner verified listing, you will need to create one for your company.
2) It is really important when creating a listing that ALL information is completed, please see our quick tips on how to optimise your Google Places Page for further info. Attention to detail here is key.
3) Then, once this is complete and correct go to the business listing you want removed. Then you need to click on ‘edit this place’ to report a problem.
4) You will then be given a number of options to choose from such as ‘Listing contains incorrect information or spam’, ‘Place is permanently closed’, ‘Place has another listing’ and select this option. Then provide additional information in the details section and select report problem. You may need to report the problem again if this problem isn’t resolved after a couple of weeks.
Hopefully this will get resolved in a timely fashion and your Google Places Listing issues will be resolved. If you require further help with website optimisation or local search marketing, contact WebResults.ie today.
